- Applications for the Baltimore Police Emerald Society scholarships will be available in January of each year. Two $500.00 will be awarded each year.


-Applications for these awards are open to the sons, daughters, adopted children or legally court appointed wards who are citizens of the United States.


-The applicants parent or guardian shall be a member in good standing of the Baltimore Police Emerald Society for at least two (2) full years prior to the date of the application for the current year scholarship awards.


-A "member in good standing" is defined as a member whose dues have been paid up prior to the date of application for scholarships.


-The applicant must be or will be a full time student at a recognized college or university.


-A recognized college or university is defined as the following. Their primary function is the presentation of formal instruction and that normally maintains a regular faculty and curriculum and has a regularly enrolled body of students in attendance at a place where it carries on its educational activities.


-In addition to the completed application, the following material will be required (mandatory) for consideration.


A. High School Candidates-official transcript of high school grades for their Junior  and Senior years.
B. Candidates currently in college as full time students should furnish transcripts of their most recent semester grades.


C. All applicants must have maintained a 3.0 average on a 1.0 to 4.0 scale.


-Failure to provide accurate information as requested by the application submission date will disqualify the applicant.


- Should the applicant be a recipient of a scholarship from another, this fact will not disqualify him/her from the scholarship award.


-Being a previous recipient of a Police Emerald Society scholarship does not disqualify him/her from future awards.


-Application deadline is March 31st in each calendar year preceeding the Fall enrollment.
-Selection via lottery will take place at the May (TBD) membership meeting.


-Award recipients will be notified by mail. Presentation of awards will take place in person at the June (TBD) membership meeting.


-Applications and transcripts will not be returned and become the property of the Baltimore Police Emerald Society.


-Current members of the Selection/Review Committee, Trustees, Board of Directors and their dependents are ineligible.
