This scholarship is for the family members of Active and Associate Members of The Police Emerald Society of Baltimore . Applicants who meet the eligibility requirements may submit an application. Applications must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2012 and returned to the Police Emerald Society, P. O. Box 2201, Baltimore MD 21203.
Please mark the outside of the envelope with "Scholarship Application". Scholarships may be used at any institution of higher education to defray expenses directly related to academics to include: tuition, books, fees, and room & board.
Eligibility:
The applicant must be planning and eligible to continue his/her education at an accredited institution of higher education, within the year the scholarship is awarded. The applicant must maintain a full-time student status. All applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Attach official copy of previous fall semester transcript. Criteria for Selection:The scholarship committee will consider scholastic achievement and excellence, extracurricular activities (school and community), honors, and awards as points of consideration in the selection process. Race, color, sex, creed, religious beliefs, national origin, or physical impairments will not be considered in determining recipients.
Limitations:
Any applicant shall be disqualified from receiving a scholarship if the applicant receives one or more of the following:
1. Acceptance or appointment to any of the service academies
2. A scholarship /grant that is specifically designated for full-tuition and room & board.
3. Previously awarded two or more scholarships by The Police Emerald Society of Baltimore, Inc.
Applications:
Each prospective recipient shall sign his/her name in the space provided on the application form and by doing so, pledges to remain in school for the full semester following scholarship’s award. The recipient further agrees to repay the Police Emerald Society of Baltimore for the amount of the scholarship in the event that the student does not remain a full-time student for the semester immediately following the award.To download scholarship application click here
